Cultural Heritages of Hangzhou
杭州是著名的历史文化名城。自古文风炽盛，有众多的文士骚客，生于或履职与此。唐代诗人白居易、北宋文豪苏轼、南宋爱国诗人陆游、明清文学家张岱、思想家章太炎，以及近代大儒马一浮、鲁迅、郁达夫、茅以升、夏衍等一批文人在杭州留下了珍贵的文化遗产，提高了城市的品味。
Hangzhou is a city rich in historical and cultural heritages. A
lot of literati were born and bred or started their career in Hangzhou
since the ancient times. Great poet Bai Juyi in the Tang Dynasty,
Su Shi the eminent whiter in the North Song Dynasty, patriotic poet
Lu You in the South Song Dynasty, prose writer Zhang Dai in Ming and
Qing Dynasties, great thinker Zhang Binglin, and modern intellectuals
like Ma Yifu, Lu Xun, Yu Dafu, Mao Yisheng, Xia Yan all left precious
cultural heritages for Hangzhou.
杭州有5000多年的文明史，良渚文化是中华文明的发祥地之一。五代吴越国和南宋王朝都曾在这里建都，因此亦留下了众多的古、近代文物遗址。灵隐寺、飞来峰、岳庙、六和塔、雷峰塔、钱王陵、太庙和良渚文化遗址，以及西泠印社、胡雪岩故居等文化古建筑，体现了杭州古今的灿烂文化。
Hangzhou boasts a 5,000-year history of civilization, and her Liangzhu
Civilization was one of the cradles of Chinese Civilization. It was
capital of the Wu-Yue Kingdom in the Five Dynasties and the South
Song Dynasty, and has numerous ancient relics and sites. Ancient sites
like the Lingyin Temple, the Peak Flying from Afar, the Memorial Temple
of General Yue Fei, Six Harmonies Pagoda, Leifeng Pagoda, Mausoleum
of King Qian, the Ancestral Temple and Liangzhu Civilization, and
ancient architectures like Xiling Seal-engraving Society and the former
residence of Hu Xueyan all show the splendid culture and history of
Hangzhou.
