With "Kung Fu Panda" descending from the air and VITAS' heavenly soprano penetrating every corner of the hall, 2009 CICAF "Monkey King Awards" was revealed tonight (April 28th). Chinese Animation Feature Film Award was obtained by Calabash Brothers and Foreign Animation Feature Film Award was gained by Kung Fu Panda that enjoyed great popularity last year.
As a major event of CICAF, "Monkey King Awards" has, under joint effort made by the Organizing Committee for CICAF and China Anim ation Association, become a top-ranking animation brand contest in China.
Different from the previous years, this year's participant films are more plentiful and the judge panel is international, comprising of four foreign adjudicators and five Chinese adjudicators. They, with their professional and international judging standards, had finally selected out the winners of over 20 "Monkey King Awards".
The Organizing Committee for CICAF will take out 2 million yuan to reward works that win the Awards in an effort to seeking out good animation works and talents in China and promote the sustained development of Chinese original animations.
This year's "Monkey King Awards" include 7 comprehensive awards, 8 individual awards and 4 special awards. To support "Monkey King Awards", this year's CICAF specially developed "Le Le" Animated Short Film Award and "Le Le" Short Story Cartooning Award. The Organizing Committee for CICAF will set aside 2 million yuan for rewarding works that won "Monkey King Awards". The highest individual prize is up to 300,000 yuan.
