In 2005, the West Lake scenic spot economy gained a steady progress by having successfully invited 18 business projects according to plan, and collected financial revenue high up to 215 million Yuan, increasing 15.5% than last year. Reporter learned from West Lake scenic spot (Bureau of Landscape and Cultural Relics) annual working conference that in 2006 the West Lake scenic spot will go on West Lake Overall Protection Project, which includes Longjing Eight Scenic Spot and Lingying renovation projects. This year, the financing revenue is expected to increase 10%, and the tourist flow over 8%.

In 2006, the West Lake Overall Protection Project contains these main items: Wushan surroundings rectification program, Lingying overall rectification program, Longjing Eight Scenic Spots revivification program, rebuilding Korea Temple in Beishan Street Historical and Cultural Block protection program, setting up a stone stele of "Tea, the national beverage, Hangzhou, the capital of tea", building Lin Huiyin Monument in Huagang Park and Lotus Mountain environment rectification program. Beside these, the preparation work for South Song Dynasty Kuanyao Porcelain Museum second period project, Renshou Mountain Park, Hangzhou Confucian Temple (forest of Steles) expansion project, and "West Lake Impression" project will begin.
