Ladies and Gentlemen,
Our Distinguished Guests,
Good morning, everyone!
It is a great honor for my colleagues and myself to welcome you all, old and new friends to attend the opening ceremony of the “Week of Hangzhou” of China Hall, Expo 2005 Aichi, Japan, in the name of Hangzhou delegation, please allow me to extend our warm welcome to the Mr. (highest official present at the ceremony) and all of our friends present here.
When Hangzhou gained the title as “China’s Most Economically Vibrant City ”in 2004, the Chinese and overseas media have reached the following appreciation of Hangzhou: “A city which ingeniously combines its natural superiority with the modern industries and which leads the trend of the leisure economy; and a city where people live like tourists and know now to transfer such peacefulness and bliss into the living and wealth. From the ‘West Lake Forum’ to ‘Qianjiang Tidal Bore’, this city is advancing towards a broader and brighter future step by step…” It is a true description of Hangzhou city.
For different environment and experiences, each city has its own history and culture, and has formed its special city spirit and temperament. And this special city spirit and temperament will not fade away as time passes by but will become brighter and attractive. Today, in China Hall, all of our friends have viewed the traditional culture and arts of Hangzhou including silk, tea, painting and calligraphy, engraving, paper-cut, etc. With the development of science and technology and the advancement of the age, these ancient culture and arts, which have experienced a long history accompanying Hangzhou city, now have properly represented modern Hangzhou at the utmost. This harmony between antiquity and fashion is showing the significant achievements gained by Hangzhou through constantly seeking the development and breakthrough.
The city is advancing by integrating the inheritance of tradition and the innovation of fashion.
Such specialty of the city culture has also formed the diversity of the city, while this specialty has become the common cultural heritage shared by human beings for its universal value deserving to be respected and defended the human beings. It belongs not only to a city but also to the whole human race. By this international exchange opportunity, we hope to make people from different areas over the world know Hangzhou and learn more information about Hangzhou, as well as make the culture and characteristics of Hangzhou city be extensively spread through the exchange and communication, and thus make then as out human being’s common wealth. We believe that such cultural communication will further broaden the space for the development of Hangzhou and make it step towards a more civilized and advanced future together with the whole world!
Thanks a lot!
